Cinderella

Working with a tight deadline, I designed and built this horse puppet for the Cinderella production at Capitol Theatre in Horsham.

The horse puppet needed to be big enough to pull a carriage (complete with Cinderella) so I designed it to be used brought to life with the help of three puppeteers. To keep it simple, I kept the body rigid and had a two joint system on the legs. The horse’s head could be animated by the handler and was connected via rope to the main body. This rope was also used across the puppet as the main dressing, adding visual interest, soft texture and completed the feel of a ‘magicked up’ fairy tale horse.
